Why you may need to control beetles
Beetles are the most diverse group of insects and there are many of which cause issues to homes and business across the UK. There are various form of pest beetle that would be damaging your property and causing a health risk.
Carpet Beetles and Woolly Bears
Found throughout the year, carpet beetles, or rather their larvae (wolley bears) are feeders consuming any amount of carpet, furniture and clothing throughout their life. Found in homes, the carpet beetle prefers warm environments with plenty of sources of food, such as loft spaces and bedrooms.
Biscuit Beetles
Closely related to the Common Furniture Beetle (woodworm), they are small reddish-brown insects, only about 3mm long, which attack stored foods in domestic larders. Flour, biscuits, cake mixes, cereals, spices, meat and soup powders will attract them.
Larder Beetles
Both beetle and larvae are scavengers, feeding on scraps of food – especially ham, bacon or cheese, or on dead mice or birds. They often enter houses from old birds’ nests and can rapidly infest buildings.
